Spring Opening/Work Day – Sat, May 14 from 2-4 pm

We are inviting you to this year’s garden opening and work day on Saturday, May 14 from 2-4 pm (rain or shine).  Please join us for an afternoon of fun, satisfying garden work together!

We will get the garden up and running for this season by cleaning up common areas and rebuilding plots.  There is much to do in the garden and it is entirely volunteer-run, so we’d appreciate everyone lending a hand.

It’s also a great chance to meet other gardeners and to get your own plot started if you haven’t done so already.

Compost will be available to add to your plot (in moderation to ensure that there is enough for everyone) and seedlings donated by Our Little Farm will be looking for homes.

Some refreshments will be provided, and we welcome any food contributions you’d like to provide for the enjoyment of gardeners and volunteers (e.g., fruit, cookies, juice).

Thanks and looking forward to seeing you there!

It’s raining, it’s pouring…

For the first time in a while, it’s raining. Which is great for the garden and for me. I’ve been dutifully heading over everyday to water our little patch of Earth, pulling out weeds and pruning (see previous entry) along the way. But today I don’t need to go. So no pictures of progress for you, dear reader!

They say no news is good news, right?! Well, maybe not if you’re a blogger and you’re trying to entertain the people.

So please enjoy these garden-related puns.

“Thyme” for more!

bananda

Not really about gardening in Canada per se, but I like the reference to bananas wearing moustaches. Here’s a more nationally appropriate one (if you like your peppers red hot. Eh? Get it?!).

leek

I know I know, it’s terrible. How about this one:

And finally…carrot
